Police say the children died after a homeless family of six slept in their van in a casino’s parking garage.

If the temperature is below freezing, dead bodies will freeze, obviously, but living bodies unfortunately are not that easy to kill.
The usual coats and sweatshirts, warm hats, and two kids in a van "freeze" to death? No, we need a better explanation than that.
Police say a mother and her five children were sleeping in a van. ... The children’s mother was detained and has provided statements to detectives. ... “Very sad. Especially as a father. I just can’t imagine what the family is feeling. I wish it wouldn’t have happened,” said Detroit Police Capt. Nathan Duda.
That's a lot of jaw flapping from a cop who didn't gas the kids to death in the van in an attempt to murder the whole family. Mother and her five children, and a male cop automatically takes the side of an absent father.
That's enough living bodies to keep a parked van warm without any particular discomfort.
Drugs? But no. The cops aren't even suggesting drugs or looking for drugs in this case.
